Our Vision

About Us

The Be'er-Sova NonProfit Organization was established in 1999 by a group of community-conscious residents of Be'er Sheva and the surrounding area who were shocked to witness elderly individuals rummaging through garbage bins in search of food. With the aim of providing hot, nutritious, and healthy food to those in need, they established a small kitchen. Soon, the demand for their services grew, and they expanded their program to include food packages. Presently, Be'er-Sova operates a Community Center Restaurant that provides hundreds of meals daily to people in need, including the elderly and Holocaust survivors. Our restaurant's doors are open to anyone unable to provide food for themselves, and we accept everyone without questions asked. Furthermore, we deliver meals and food packages to elderly and sick individuals confined to their homes, distribute them to children and youth at risk, and provide them to families struggling with food insecurity.

Breaking away from the passivity and marginalization that underlie food insecurity requires sustained, long-term efforts from both program participants and our dedicated staff and volunteers. There are no easy solutions to this complex issue. While food distribution is the first and most urgent step in helping those experiencing nutritional insecurity, it is just the beginning. By moving beyond survival mode, individuals in distress are better able to address the underlying challenges they face. That's why we offer a variety of programs for economic and social empowerment, aimed at creating a significant impact to break the cycle of poverty. We are proud to say that many of those who have participated in these programs have significantly improved their lives, breaking away from dependence on welfare programs and food distribution sites, and achieving nutritional security through their own independent means.

At Be'er-Sova, we take pride in being the primary destination for the most vulnerable members of our community. We are committed to helping them achieve independence by providing the necessary resources and support.

AboutUs

Our Vision

Be'er-Sova provides immediate assistance for anyone facing food insecurity, regardless of their religion, race, or gender. Our vision is to ensure that every person in need has both short-term and long-term solutions. In the short term, we provide a hot meal and a supportive environment during times of distress. In the long term, we offer empowerment programs, counseling, personal accompaniment, assistance with exercising their rights, and help in addressing the root causes of their distress. Our work also aims to reduce social gaps, encourage social solidarity, promote volunteering and support for people in need, and guide them towards an independent path in life.

Our Mission

Our Mission

Ensuring food security for those in need in Be'er Sheva and the surrounding area: Achieving nutritional security means having access to nutritious, satisfying, and healthy food that meets all of one's nutritional needs, enabling them to function optimally and lead an active and healthy life. Unfortunately, in the state of Israel, approximately 18% of adults and 26% of children suffer from food insecurity, according to the National Insurance Survey conducted in 2016.

Be'er-Sova is the sole organization in Be'erSheva that offers fresh, hot, and nutritious meals on a daily basis to those experiencing food insecurity. Along with providing healthy meals, we also offer comprehensive programs aimed at breaking the cycle of poverty.

To make a significant impact on the lives of the populations we serve, we must address the root causes of food insecurity. Be'er-Sova tackles the core challenges faced by food-insecure individuals through community-based projects that create a profound change in their lives. Our empowerment programs include personal accompaniment, counseling, employment support, and alleviating loneliness, all while fostering a strong social and community network.

With the assistance of dozens of volunteers and a supportive community, we strive to address the most fundamental human needs and ensure that no one is left behind.
